About Dr. Andrea Koster-Baier
Dr. Andrea Koster-Baier is a licensed clinical psychologist, registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario to work with children, adolescents, families and adults. She is also registered to practise in the areas of clinical, health and counselling psychology. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario in 2004. Prior to this, she attended Queen's University, where she obtained her B.Sc. in psychology in 1996. Dr. Koster-Baier’s experience includes a variety of hospital, community mental health, school and private practice settings. She has over 25 years of clinical experience.
Dr. Koster-Baier has provided services in various hospitals and clinics, including London Health Sciences Centre, McMaster Children's Hospital, and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. In addition, she worked with Childcan, an organization that supports families and children diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Koster-Baier has worked at the Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) in Burlington, providing assessment and treatment to children and their families for a wide range of presenting challenges. She has also worked for the Niagara Catholic District School Board, providing psychoeducational assessments. Dr. Koster-Baier has worked in private practise since 2004. She is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA).

- What should I expect at the first therapy appointment?
- The initial session is used to get to know you or your child/adolescent. This usually involves gathering information to help obtain a better understanding of your concerns.
Assessment
- We provide Psychoeducational Assessments involving a comprehensive assessment of cognitive, academic and social-emotional functioning.

- Generate specific treatment recommendations:
- Comprehensive recommendations are provided for the school and home.
- Accomodation and remediation strategies are tailored to the child's specific needs, taking into account their individual profile of strengths and weaknesses.
- Our assessment reports can be used to assist in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) at school.
- What is the psychoeducational assessment process?
- Assessment usually involve 4-5 sessions, including an initial intake with parents, 2-3 assessment sessions approximately 2-3 hours in length, a final feedback session. A final report detailing the findings and recommendations will be provided during the feedback meeting.

- Do I need a referral from my doctor?
- While always welcomed, a referral from your family doctor is not required. Clients may contact the office directly.
- Are your services covered under OHIP or Insurance Plans?
- Psychological services in private practice (such as ours) are not covered by OHIP. However, many people have extended health benefits through their employer. Please contact your insurance provider to determine what your coverage entails. Payment for service (cash or etransfer) is due at the end of each session and will be provided with a receipt that you may submit for reimbursement to your insurance company.
